I received so many messages full of kindness after last week’s post. You have my unending gratitude. In moments of death there is nothing like being reminded of life.
This is as good a moment as any to appreciate the caregivers in our lives. It is a job that is often overlooked in favor of earning a livelihood. I wish to not diminish its value and burden as we have. What makes caregiving incredibly difficult is that those that need care don’t have many fights in them, but the one fight they tend to have still is that they don’t need care.
Attaching below a beautiful song from Josh’s 2004 album Kabhi – a triumph of sincerity. Josh, through their diaspora background and their sound have a claim to their place in global pop, not just Pakistani pop. Kabhi stands out to me for the breadth of emotion it addresses. The songs are heartfelt, but not downers. You can hear the bhangra and the club music in this album. Those influences are more prominent in Josh’s other work. For me personally the balance in Kabhi was particularly alluring. I enjoy listening to this album as an album, perhaps because I heard the CD so much.
