I’ve written briefly about Sandaraa before, but for those unfamiliar with them here is how the band describe themselves:
Sandaraa is a new band from Lahore, Pakistan and Brooklyn, New York. The group explores a vast repertoire of South Asian material (from Balochistan, Afghanistan and beyond,) while blending it with the sounds of Eastern Europe, the Balkans, and more. The group was founded in the fall of 2013, with the help of the Center for Traditional Music and Dance, and the MAP fund.
This recording is a live performance in New York of a song called Chashmane – novel & joyous.
