Umair's Swift Rise to the Top of Pakistani Hip Hop
This short interview of hip-hop producer Umair is beautifully put together. Among the stories he narrates, a few really stood out:
- He was first introduced to Talha Anjum through a mutual friend, who played a beat Umair had made for Anjum
- He sends Anjum a handful of new beats every week (!). Slowly these turn into larger bodies of work, like Anjum’s album.
- He has beats ready that he wants Drake to sing on.
I like this kid.
Hadi Ahmad, the video maker behind this, is worth a YouTube subscription. Some of his recent work has been quite informative and entertaining.
