Musab's Last Qawwali Session of 2024

Friend of the show Musab, who many of you will recognize as the author of great Hamnawa pieces on Nusrat and Nayyara Noor, is hosting his last qawwali session of the year.

For those unfamiliar with these sessions, they are multi-hour history lessons and musical shows all rolled into one. The crowd, while virtual, is charged and engaged.

Musab’s knowledge of the qawwali scene is unparalleled in my experience, and every time I hear him I come out with stories I tell for months after. For this alone, it is a good investment of time.

But wait, there’s more. As some of you knowledgable about the lore of Musab will know, he is one of team members of The Dream Journey – an exemplary, one-of-a-kind series that records qawwals across Pakistan in their own settings. Truly a gift. In this session, Musab has let slip that the entire Dream Journey will be present to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the project. They will share their favorite qawwalis and reminisce about the project as well.
